Curator's Note: As part of my job for MOVIECLIPS I help curate the Old Hollywood Trailers channel on YouTube. It's meant to be a source for trailers before the online HD video revolution of recent years. While there's still a load of 21st Century offerings there's a rich archive of earlier films which we only hope to further expand. Throughout the month of October I'm exclusively looking to upload trailers for horror movies new and old.

Nearly a decade before Peter Jackson was to become an almost household name after helming The Lord of the Rings he was responsible for schlock like Dead Alive. I use the term lovingly. This trailer is so much fun, many thanks to it's movie trailer voice (if only he had a New Zealand accent).  Bits like, "Now, whatever Mom's got has caught on with the neighbors," help describe the chaos onscreen. It's a surprisingly plot-heavy film but can be summed up with, "You can pray, you can plead, you can beg for mercy, but nothing you can do will stop it. Because how do you kill something that's already dead." They also know when to let character lines breakthrough the advertisement, "Your mother ate my dog!" and "Party's over!" are among the film's more memorable moments, quotes you'll want to remember for the rest of your life. If this trailer is any indication to your (bad) tastes that there's a good, bloody time to be had with Dead Alive, I can assure you that you haven't seen nothin' yet!
