Writer/director David O. Russell is on a hot-streak and I hope he doesn't stop. In the last few years he's delivered The Fighter (excellent), Silver Linings Playbook (so good), and now American Hustle. This is a loose adaptation of the FBI's ABSCAM case from the '70s and fills both sides of the law with the likes of Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Jeremy Renner, that's not to mention a rich pedigree of supporting players beneath them. As Andrew points out in the Instant Trailer Review, it's a mixed cast of those two aforementioned films. The period touches are what seal the deal for what looks to be a very funny and exciting telling of the events. American Hustle joins the now-crowded Christmas Day lineup alongside 47 Ronin and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
