TRAILER ROUND-UP

A full trailer for "The Hunger Games" has finally surfaced. It is always fascinating to see a book that you've read imagined on the screen. It might not have the production value or cast of a "Harry Potter" film, but it certainly looks fully realized. The final sequence where the game officially begin looks to be particularly exciting. Again, love that little tune at the end. I'm hopeful for this one. "May the odds be ever in your favor" on March 23rd, 2012.

Notice they do not say "From the makers of 'Cars 2'!" in the official trailer for Pixar's "Brave"? Yeah... Here's a different film from the talented team that has only delivered one other film primarily about human characters (and with Scottish accents!). Miyazki would be proud to see a highland adventure with a young female protagonist and magical happenings afoot. I am kinda proud myself! Hopefully this will make up for the studio's recent (and only?) misstep. Find out on June 22nd, 2012

C'mon out through the swingin' saloon doors, I reckon it's prime time for the Trailer Round-Up Awards:

Lasso of the Week:

"Snow White and the Huntsman"... I am just as surprised as you are that this is taking the top honors this week, but I have to admit, It looks pretty awesome. I am a sucker for fantasy and I love what they've done with the classic Disney here, namely de-dwarfing it. (Though who knows, maybe they are here somewhere.) Instead this is a film about the huntsman who the wicked queen hires to take care of Snow White. Leave the kids at home for this one, but prepare for a dark fairy tale. Who's the fairest of them all? Find out on June 1st, 2012.

ENLISTED

How was your Thanksgiving? Hopefully you did have any awkward moments at the dinner table, which is exactly what this list from Movies.com is all about! Turns out some of the most awkward are the most hilarious. Love that memorable sequence from "Meet the Parents"!

Have you seen "The Muppets" yet? The MTV Movie Blog has five reasons why you need to go see it!

OR THE COOL

Turns out Marty Scorsese's surprising film "Hugo" is a love letter to early cinema, particularly the films of Georges Melies. The Film Stage is putting out the PSA "10 Classic Films You Must Watch Before Seeing 'Hugo'." Chances are most people won't see all of these beforehand, but you should at least check out a few. A lot of the are short films and available online. I am sure that doing so will help you appreciate "Hugo" all the more. I am more excited than ever before to check it out now.

Criterion Collection did their release of "12 Angry Men" (seriously one of the best films around) this week. Here is the flashy original poster!

I'm looking forward to seeing Hugo, The Muppets, and Brave. Snow White and the Huntsman and Hunger Games is not for the faint of heart (aka me). MADLY!
